KulangSu Island, a famous scenic and historical community, has a contradictory conflict between local residents and numerous tourists on the limited land use of public streets. Therefore, we aimed at regenerating the boundary between the activities of tourists and residents, while supplementing the current lack of infrastructure on KulangSu Island. We used street view image segmentation and data analysis of people's activities, to sort out and redefine the community living areas and tourist scenic areas. Finally, we developed general design guidelines for the establishment of community boundary thickness on KulangSu Island, and also for the individual architecture design, to help two groups share public space equitably.
The boundary effect means that at the junction of two or more material spaces, the structure of material types will be relatively complex, and the exchange and interaction between materials will be more active, so the boundary carrying the boundary effect is a junction zone with a certain width.
An important characteristic of the system is that the system must constantly exchange energy (including material flow and information flow) with its surrounding environment in order to maintain its vitality, and this exchange is carried out through the boundary.
